This Privacy Policy explains how Sentence handles information.
Sentence is a reading app that helps users read books and documents one sentence at a time.
We designed Sentence so that imported books and documents stay locally on your device. They are not uploaded to Sentence servers.

Sentence may collect or process the following types of information.
Account information
If you create an account, we may process information such as:
- your email address
- your login provider
- your account ID
- your account status
- your paid feature or entitlement status
We may use Supabase Auth, including Google login, to provide authentication.
Payment information
If you make a purchase, payment and billing information may be handled by Paddle.
Paddle may process information such as:
- payment details
- billing details
- tax information
- invoices and receipts
- purchase status
- refund status
- customer portal access
We do not store your full card details on Sentence servers.
Entitlement information
To unlock paid features, Sentence may store basic information about your purchase or entitlement, such as:
- whether you have unlocked sentence Plus
- payment provider customer ID
- payment or transaction ID
- purchase status
- refund status where relevant
This is used to decide whether your account can access paid features.
Local app data
Sentence stores some data locally on your device, such as:
- imported books and documents
- reading progress
- selected language
- reader settings
- local translation usage counters
- tutorial completion
- local library information
Imported books and documents are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to Sentence servers.
If you clear your browser data, app storage, or device data, this local information may be deleted.
3. Imported books and documents
Imported books and documents stay on your device.
Sentence does not upload, host, distribute, sell, or share your imported books.
This means we generally cannot recover imported files if they are deleted from your device.
You are responsible for keeping your own backups.
3A. Translation requests
If you use a translation feature, Sentence may send only the specific sentence you choose to a third-party translation provider in order to return a translation.
Sentence does not upload full imported books or documents for translation as part of this feature.
Translation providers may apply their own service limits, availability rules, or processing terms. Sentence may also apply different daily translation allowances for free and paid users.
4. Built-in books
Sentence may include built-in public-domain or openly licensed books.
These are part of the app and are not personal data.
5. How we use information
We use information to:
- provide the app
- let you sign in
- unlock paid features
- process purchases and refunds
- provide customer support
- maintain security
- fix bugs and improve the product
- comply with legal obligations
6. Payments through Paddle
Payments may be processed by Paddle.
Paddle may act as merchant of record and may handle checkout, payment processing, tax, invoices, refunds, billing records, and customer portal support.
When you purchase through Paddle, Paddle’s own terms and privacy policy may also apply.
7. Authentication through Supabase
We may use Supabase to provide account authentication.
If you sign in with Google, Google and Supabase may process information needed to authenticate you.
8. Analytics and error tracking
Sentence does not currently use analytics or error tracking tools.
We may add privacy-respecting analytics or error tracking in the future to understand app usage, diagnose errors, and improve the product.
If we add these tools, we will update this Privacy Policy.
9. Legal bases
Where applicable, we process personal information based on:
- your consent
- performance of a contract
- legitimate interests, such as maintaining and improving the app
- compliance with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.
We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate Sentence, such as:
- Supabase for authentication and account data
- Paddle for payments, tax, invoices, billing, refunds, and customer portal services
- hosting providers such as Vercel
These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy commitments.
11. Data retention
We keep account and entitlement information for as long as needed to provide the app, support purchases, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain records.
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it or clear app/browser storage.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- access your personal information
- correct inaccurate information
- request deletion
- object to or restrict processing
- request a copy of your data
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

13. Children and legal capacity
Sentence is intended for users who are legally able to enter into a contract in their country or region.
If you are not legally able to enter into a contract, you must not purchase paid features.
14. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect account and entitlement information.
However, no online service or local storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Because imported files are stored locally on your device, you are responsible for the security of your device and backups.

Sentence may use service providers based in different countries.
By using Sentence, you understand that information may be processed in countries other than your own, where permitted by law.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
